WHO NEEDS A HERO ?
REIMAGINED CINEMATIC POSTERS
Who Needs a Hero ? revisits the visual language of mid-20th century film posters, where drama was heightened, and female and masculine roles were clearly defined. Women appeared as icons, yet remained passive within the narrative, positioned as objects of desire, victims, or rewards. The monsters are a projection of power, fear, and desire, the masculine force acting upon the female figure. This series reimagines that dynamic. The woman is no longer passive and no longer defined by the story, but she is reshaping it. The monster is no longer a threat, but a symbol. Confronted, contained, and undone. Each work is meticulously staged, photographed, and composed, incorporating hand-built elements and small-scale figures, then being assembled through photographic collage and painterly composition into large-scale posters. Echoing the visual language of the past, this series reflects a broader societal shift shaped by the post-#MeToo cultural landscape : from objectification to agency, from submission to autonomy.
