Cadaqués Antic

Created in collaboration with El Diari de Cadaqués and the Adrià López Sala Digital Archive, this open-air exhibition revives the town’s memory through photographs from the 1920s and 1930s.

These old images portray a Cadaqués deeply rooted in its maritime traditions : boats pulled up on the beach, fishermen at work, women carrying water jars, and children running through narrow streets. They also evoke the atmosphere of local festivities — sardanes and regattas that brought the whole town together and marked the rhythm of community life.

But behind the charm of these shared moments, one can already glimpse the arrival of change : the first buses, new infrastructure, kiosks, and service stations bear witness to the opening of a new world — of a once-isolated village preparing to embrace modernity.

Displayed nearly a century later in a public space, these photographs appear as an open-air journal. They remind us that Cadaqués is not just a postcard setting, but a living community, where every street, every stone, and every horizon still echoes with a shared history.
