Cloé Harent

FRANCE

Cloé Harent is a photographer deeply connected to the earth. Guided by a sensitive approach, she focuses on the intimate relationship between individuals and their environment. Her aesthetic, sometimes imbued with painterly light, highlights the sensory texture of the living world, where the themes of life and death emerge. Her almost romantic vision invites us to take the time to contemplate the simplicity of what surrounds us. By exploring the legacy of time, Cloé seeks to shed light on the fragility of a precious biodiversity.

In Memoriam Terrae was created with the support of the Euroregion Pyrenees-Mediterranean as part of the artist residency program of the InCadaqués Festival (Catalonia), carried out in collaboration with the Pyrenean Institute of Photography (Occitanie) and the Center for Research and Contemporary Culture Casa Planas (Balearic Islands).

In Memoriam Terrae

Photographer Cloé Harent immersed herself in the wild landscapes of Cap de Creus in Cadaqués, a protected territory where rock, wind, sun, sea, and salt have been in dialogue for millennia. In this harsh and stinging environment, she reveals what endures and resists the passage of time.

In Memoriam Terrae is a series that, in a fictional space-time, pays homage to a still raw and primal planet Earth, untouched by human presence.

Her work explores the memory inscribed in stone, offering a vision of Cap de Creus as a place shaped by archaic forces. By engaging closely with abrasive textures, Cloé Harent blurs the boundaries and opens a space where reality and fiction merge.

Her gaze, akin to archaeology, is guided by poetic intuition. The aim is not to resurrect a specific past, but to freely invent a narrative in which layers of memory overlap.

At a time when it is increasingly rare to find places free of human traces, Cloé Harent invites us to immerse ourselves in such a space — if only for the duration of a journey.
