Julien Mignot

FRANCE

Julien Mignot was born in 1981. His first photographic commissions quickly took him backstage at the most prestigious Parisian fashion shows; at only 20 years old, his images were already being published in magazines. His vocation for photography soon outgrew his academic interests and, despite obtaining a Master’s degree in Geography, he chose to follow his creative path.

He has collaborated with both French and international press — Libération, Le Monde, Télérama, The New York Times and The New Yorker — as well as with a wide range of clients from Chanel to the Paris Opera. Record labels soon recognized the quality of his eye for portraiture, and he was commissioned to create cover and artist photography for Claudio Abbado, Martha Argerich, Kali Malone, Rodolphe Burger, Warren Ellis, and Lana Del Rey, among others.

Present Time

Initiated during the Planche Contact Festival in Deauville, then continued in Mexico, and finally at Cap de Creus as part of the InCadaqués Festival’s artist residency program, Temps Présent is a contemplative series that captures the transitory colors of the sky from dawn to dusk.

Each photograph, taken in different coastal locations, forms a unique chromatic diary of a single day, encapsulating the fleeting and ephemeral nature of time itself.

Temps Présent highlights Mignot’s technical mastery and innovative use of printing, but also his exploration of the very fabric of visual experience.

Through his lens, Mignot captures more than images: he seizes moments of introspection, fragments of time, and the fluid boundaries of our environment. His work invites us to look beyond the obvious, to discover beauty and meaning in what is transient, making this series a profound experience for all who immerse themselves in his creative universe.
