Louise Ernandez

FRANCE

Louise Ernandez graduated from the photo-video section of the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris in 2016. Her practice is characterized by the exploration of these two disciplines, with a narrative construction which is at the heart of her artistic approach. Louise is fascinated by intimacy and by the duality between fantasy and reality, and the universes they live in. Her documentary and fictional creations are strongly influenced  by cinematographic references.

OBSESSIÓ

OBSESSIÓ

In the middle of the mineral hills bordering the Mediterranean, set between fantasy and reality, the film novel Obsessio unfolds the story of a couple in complete decay. Through these vulnerable characters facing universal psychological struggles, Louise Ernandez presents us with a theatrical and mythological universe, highlighting human archetypess: those of the femme fatale and the rational modern man,  impassive to the depth of his feelings. In this work, the artist reinterprets the main principles of photo novels, which are traditionally rooted in stereotypical representations, but gradually blurring the codes. She thus creates a palpable unease and transcends the consensual aspect of this popular 1970s genre.
