Yusuf Sevinçli

Tourmaline

2019

Yusuf Sevinçli doesn’t linger. He walks, he explores, he observes, he photographs, and then he moves on. Almost obsessively, he collects fragments of reality—always different—yet these pieces can eventually find analogies and become a series of images.
It’s a picaresque concept of photography, almost rootless, rejecting the stability and serenity of a home—even a virtual one—in favor of embracing the road, the people, the animals (from dogs to insects), the objects that inhabit it and bring it to life.
The subjects become stains that ultimately come together to reveal a texture, which is the representation of reality through the artist’s eye. Emotion steps off the beaten path and takes to the streets, returning to us its true essence.
